Set Up Your Ledger Device

Welcome to Ledger.com/start — the official and secure starting point for setting up your Ledger hardware wallet. This page ensures you're using verified steps to initialize your device and protect your digital assets with maximum security.

Connect and Power On

Start by unboxing your Ledger device and connecting it to your computer using the USB cable included in the box. Turn on the device by pressing the appropriate buttons, and follow the on-screen prompts.

Create or Restore a Wallet

If you’re new to Ledger, choose to set up a new wallet. Your Ledger device will generate a unique 24-word recovery phrase. Write it down on the provided recovery sheet and store it securely offline. If you’re restoring an existing wallet, select the “Restore from recovery phrase” option and enter your phrase exactly as it was originally written.

Set a PIN Code

You will be asked to create a PIN code for your Ledger device. This PIN protects your wallet in case your device is lost or stolen. Choose a PIN that is both secure and memorable, and never share it with anyone.

Download Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the official application for managing your crypto assets and Ledger device. Visit Ledger.com/start to download Ledger Live for your computer or mobile device. Always ensure you are downloading from the official website to avoid counterfeit software.

Manage Your Assets

Once installed, open Ledger Live and follow the guided steps to pair your device. You can now install apps for the cryptocurrencies you use, add accounts, check balances, and send or receive funds — all with the security of your Ledger hardware wallet.

Secure Your Recovery Phrase

Your 24-word recovery phrase is the only backup to your wallet and the assets it holds. Ledger does not store or have access to this phrase. Never share it with anyone, and never enter it on any website or app other than your Ledger device. If someone obtains your recovery phrase, they can access and control your funds.
